Written and Illustrated by Nancy Smith

Marlene loves birds, especially a little nuthatch called Mert, who she has fed all winter from her bedroom window. With some magical help, Mert takes Marlene on an amazing adventure high up into the treetops and deep into the woods. Marlene sees things she has never seen before. Late at night Marlene realizes she is far from home and her mother doesn’t know where she is. It will take some more magic to bring her back home.
